August 29, 2011, Duluth, Minn.
This blog was created literally as we rolled down the highway on our August 2011 work trip to the UCC’s Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Miss.
Hooray for Wi-Fi on the Bus!
Back Bay Mission is a ministry established to rehabilitate and replace housing destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, whose anniversary was six years ago today.
Du is short for Duluth, Minnesota, and Peace stands for Peace Church, aka Peace United Church of Christ, Duluth, MN.
Ergo, Du Peace.
Du Peace also puns on “Do Peace” to emphasize that peace is not passive, it’s active.
Du Peace is our chronicle of our attempts, however humble, to Do Peace in the here and now, on this trip and as far beyond as we are able. It was created by youth volunteer and Peace Church member Tom Wilkowske.
